‘Syrup’ to deliver enhanced user experience

Seoul, Korea, July 22, 2015
—SK Planet today announced that it has signed a $3 million
strategic business partnership with IndoorAtlas to target the global O2O (Online-to-Offline) e-commerce market.

IndoorAtlas was founded in 2012 by Professor Janne Haverinen
and a group of research scientists at the University of Oulu in Finland.
IndoorAtlas's software platform uses the Earth's geomagnetic
field to pinpoint a smartphone's location inside a building.

China’s leading search engine Baidu has invested $10 million
in the Finnish software developer to target O2O e-commerce market.
The agreement means that IndoorAtlas won't make its platform available through
any other distribution channel in China.

SK Planet’s funding and business partnership deal with IndoorAtlas will strengthen the technology aspect
of SK Planet’s O2O business and in turn enhance Syrup’s service capabilities.
The funding deal also grants SK Planet exclusive access to IndoorAtlas's technology in Korea.

Indoor positioning system developed by IndoorAtlas maps out indoor locations in areas where
GPS does not work by utilizing a smartphone sensor's recognition
of magnetic distortions created by the building's steel structure.

The technology pinpoints indoor location with an accuracy of 1-2 meters,
without any additional infrastructure such as beacons or routers.
With its ability to dramatically improve O2O e-commerce services, such as indoor navigation,
indoor location-based mobile search, and location-based advertising,
it is extending its footprint in the U.S., Japan and other Asian countries.

SK Planet plans to use the technology to enhance the accuracy of its leading O2O service 'Syrup,'
while applying it to 'Syrup Guide,' an integrated shopping mall service which will be launched later this year.
SK Planet also plans to offer the solution to other service operators.

“Indoor positioning platform offered by IndoorAtlas will create added value to our customers as majority of people
spend most of their time indoors,” said Suh Sung-won, COO of SK Planet.
“The technology will be integrated into O2O service offerings of SK Planet to deliver
enhanced shopping experience to our customers.”

“The accuracy and scalability of indoor positioning platform developed by
IndoorAtlas is second to none in the world and clearly complements
SK Planet’s O2O service offerings,” said Janne Haverinen,
CEO and Founder of IndoorAtlas.
“We are very pleased to contribute to the success of SK Planet’s O2O services.”
