SK Planet announced that it today held Tech Planet 2012, the company’s global tech conference that features latest innovations and trends in the ICT industry at Intercontinental Seoul COEX Hotel Harmony Ballroom located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
In his opening keynote address, Seo Jin-woo, SK Planet’s President and CEO said, “Recently, mobile has become the new paradigm for the platform industry, creating new opportunities and bringing new energy to platform innovations. SK Planet will take advantage of such a shift in paradigm as an opportunity to grow, with an aim to become the world’s most innovative mobile-centered social media and marketplace.” As for the future ahead he added, “Changes in the platform industry will be driven by Open Platform, Big Data, and User Experience (UX).” He then went on to say, “The very value offered to users and developers through open platform will be the determining factor for success or failure. Such an open platform will be differentiated by big data technology that delivers value from big data explosion and UX innovation.” The Tech Planet debuted today to serve as a platform dedicated to global and emerging technologies. The annual conference is designed to feature latest innovations, technology trends, best practices, as well as platform technologies that developers and industry insiders are highly interested in, giving Korean developers a unique opportunity to explore global ICT technologies without having to fly overseas to attend global conferences.
The inaugural conference featured visionary keynotes from ▶John Lagerling, director of Android global partnerships a t Google and ▶Serkan Piantino, Engineer Manager at Facebook, along with stimulating presentations from global industry leaders (Accenture and Adaptive Path) as well as notable tech startups (Maluuba and Expect Labs). Each session included presentations from high-profile Korean developers and other prominent speakers from academia who shared their insights into global technology trends and their implications for the future.
