- Create groups of friends with the same destination to share locations and send out voice messages using the walkie talkie feature - Traveling in groups for the holidays and vacation will be more exciting and convenient with T Map Buddy
Seoul, Korea, January 22, 2014—SK Planet has just launched T Map Buddy, an app that allows a group of travelers headed for the same destination to easily share their current locations and to communicate with each other to coordinate their journeys.
Users can create groups of up to five people using the contact information stored on their smartphone. Once the destination is keyed into the group screen, the location of each member is shared within. Each member can also view the distance remaining for himself as well as his buddies to reach the destination.
In order to limit the distribution of information that does not need to be shared, a time limit can be set on the location sharing feature when first creating the group. The first two hours are free of charge, and the app’s currency called ‘coins’ will be deducted for extension of the service up to maximum 12 hours.
Another compelling feature is the walkie-talkie function. The hassle of phoning each and everyone or sending group text messages can be avoided by simply dragging the silver button-like icon on the upper right-hand corner of the screen downward to send out simple voice messages of up to 10 seconds to all members at once. This will prove especially convenient for groups on the move.
By linking T Map Buddy and Korea’s favorite navigation app T Map, SK Planet hopes to deliver the most optimal route guidance to groups traveling together. For those on the road with other parties to visit their family for the Lunar New Year or to get to a vacation spot, the experience will be more fun, exciting and very convenient.
“SK Planet will continue to roll out diverse location based services to make life easier and to address different needs of our customers,” said Lee Hae-yeol, Head of LBS (Location Based Service) Business Division. “T Map is evolving from a GPS navigation app primarily for the driver to a one-stop lifestyle service that touches individual lives in a more profound way.”
T Map Buddy is available for free download from January 22 on T Store and Google Play regardless of the mobile network carrier of choice. The iOS version will be released in the near future.
